Imaginarius challenges professional and amateur musicians for the festival’s course and show

Imaginarius – International Street Theatre Festival, which will return in full to the public space of Santa Maria da Feira between 26 and 28 May, is challenging professional and amateur musicians to participate in the “Animadores Musicais” course, which will culminate with a participation in the “Orquestra Criativa Meets Synchronotopy” show, part of the official program of the festival.

“Animadores Musicais”  comprises six training sessions, aimed at professional or amateur musicians, with musical training or self-taught, and a fundamental requirement for participation is to be accompanied by their own musical instrument. The training action will take place at the headquarters of the Creative Orchestra, at the Carvalhosa Basic School, Arrifana, on 26 and 27 March, 23 and 24 April, 15 and 22 May.

In an environment of experimentation and creation, under the guidance of conductor Aleksandar Caric Zar, the participants will develop a musical project to be integrated into the show “Orquestra Criativa Meets Synchronotopy”, scheduled to premiere at the 21st edition of the Imaginarius festival.

Registration for the training action is limited to 20 participants aged over 18. Interested parties should register here. For more information, please contact us on 933 708 092 or email info@imaginarius.pt.

Since 2008, Aleksandar Caric Zar has worked in Santa Maria da Feira as conductor and artistic director of the Creative Orchestra, a community musical project that crosses different sounds, focusing on musical improvisation. The group is made up of primary school children, young people studying at various school levels, social centres and community members, from multiple age groups and origins, who have a common taste for music.

Often present in the main programme of Imaginarius, the Creative Orchestra has already premiered several projects of community creation at the festival, namely “O Bairro do Pinóquio”, “A Pomba da Paz é Cheia de Revoluções Futuras”, “O Gamelão de Plástico” and “Sinfonia das Hortas”, among others.

The 21st edition of the Imaginarius festival takes place on 26, 27, 28 and 29 de May, in the public space and cultural facilities of Santa Maria da Feira.
