While the concert will be held in an unlikely setting, and even though the names of the songs making up the program are intriguing, to say the least, the quality, innovation creativity are ensured. Sinfonia das Hortas (Symphony of Gardens), by the Santa Maria da Feira Creative Orchestra, is the concert presented by Imaginarius – the International Street Theater Festival on September 11th and 12th at 6:30 p.m., at the Casa dos Choupos Community Garden.
With unique musical scenery, in an intimate setting, some 50 musicians of different ages – children, young people, adults and the elderly – invite the public to hear the natural musicality of the people and of Mother Nature. “A minha horta pequena” (My little garden), “Alface” (Lettuce), “Viola na fonte” (Guitar in the fountain), “Saio para o campo” (I go out into the field), “Borboletas” (Butterflies), “Sachada” (Hoed), “Horta a noite” (Garden the night), “Couve-flor” (Cauliflower), “O ar livre” (The open air), “Flores” (flowers) and “Sopa de legumes” (Vegetable soup) are the 7 movements and 4 solos comprising the Sinfonia das Hortas program.
Sinfonia das Hortas is a musical cycle exploring horticultural spaces in the municipality of Santa Maria da Feira, by sharing experiences surrounding a common interest between generations.
In a first phase of Imaginarius, in May, this project was presented in digital format, with three videos that sought to bring together nature, popular wisdom and musical composition. On September 11th and 12th, the project will be presented to Imaginarius audiences in a live concert format, providing a unique musical moment.
The Santa Maria da Feira Creative Orchestra came into existence in 2008, with the goal of making music accessible to everyone, fostering solidarity and social transformation through culture. This community orchestra is intergenerational, with a strong social and artistic dimension, with no participation restrictions, while contributing towards improving people’s lives by making group music.
