{"id":15103,"date":"2025-02-11T15:48:14","date_gmt":"2025-02-11T14:48:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.imaginarius.pt\/?p=15103"},"modified":"2025-02-11T15:48:14","modified_gmt":"2025-02-11T14:48:14","slug":"rui-paixao-returns-to-imaginarius-as-creator-and-director","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.imaginarius.pt\/en\/rui-paixao-returns-to-imaginarius-as-creator-and-director\/","title":{"rendered":"Rui Paix\u00e3o returns to Imaginarius as creator and director"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Actor and performer Rui Paix\u00e3o is back at Imaginarius \u2013 Santa Maria da Feira International Street Theatre Festival, the first stage that opened doors for the artist from Feira to the world of performing arts, catapulting him to the renowned global company Cirque du Soleil.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Many will remember the character of C\u00e3o \u00e0 Chuva, the clown with a white face, shaved head and tufts of green hair, who surprised the audience at Imaginarius in 2015 and ended up being considered that edition\u2019s revelation, earning him a passport to other similar international festivals.<\/p>\n<p>Rui Paix\u00e3o now returns to Imaginarius, not as a performer, but as creator and director of the performance \u201cFinal Girl\u201d, performed solo by performer and dancer Rina Marques, who saw her application for the Call for Support for Local Creation approved.<\/p>\n<p>With a very unique language, \u201cFinal Girl\u201d combines clowning, theatre and dance, highlighting Rui Paix\u00e3o\u2019s \u201cultra-expressionist\u201d side, in a solo for the feminine, \u201cfresh, intense, rhythmic\u201d, with an implicit message for each person to discover, as the performer explains.<\/p>\n<p>In this creation, Rina Marques leaves her comfort zone to enter the universe of Rui Paix\u00e3o, which she had long wanted to experience on her own body, through intense, physically demanding movements, striking facial expressions, which she was not used to, and even singing.<\/p>\n<p>The creative process ends in May, with the third artistic residency taking place in Santa Maria da Feira a few days before the festival, which \u201cinvades\u201d streets and squares between the 22nd and 25th, in the historic centre and surrounding area.<\/p>\n<p>Always traveling around the country and the world, it is with \u201clove\u201d that Rui Paix\u00e3o continues to speak of Santa Maria da Feira, the land where he was born and raised, where he currently lives and where he continues to create, as has happened in recent days, at the Imaginarius Creation Centre.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn Santa Maria da Feira there is space for us to be who we truly want to be\u201d, stresses the creator, who continues to be attracted to \u201ca land that sees Culture as an essential place\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Until his participation in the opening of the oldest festival in France, the iconic Festival d\u2019Avignon, to be held in July, Rui Paix\u00e3o will continue his national tour with the theatre and circus show \u201cFuro Lento\u201d and creating, always with Santa Maria da Feira on his radar as a destination back home.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Actor and performer Rui Paix\u00e3o is back at Imaginarius \u2013 Santa Maria da Feira International Street Theatre Festival, the first stage that opened doors for the artist from Feira to the world of performing arts, catapulting him to the renowned global company Cirque du Soleil.
