MAIS IMAGINARIUS

Caricature proposes a subtle game of exposure and transformation in public space. An apparently simple gesture, sitting down and offering one’s face, becomes an act of symbolic displacement, where identity opens itself to the gaze of another. Caricature does not appear as image in a reductive sense, but as a slightly distorted mirror that reveals, with humour and empathy, what usually goes unnoticed.

By exaggerating features and expressions, António La Fata dismantles fixed images and constructs portraits that are also small visual narratives. The public ceases to be merely an observer and becomes the material of the action, exposed, transformed and shared within the rhythm of the place. The drawing happens in full view, shaped by movement, spontaneous commentary and collective curiosity.

Between play, irony and attentive listening, Caricature turns public space into a relational territory, where seeing and being seen are part of a shared experience. A light gesture, yet politically alert, that resists passivity and affirms the territory as a place of encounter, participation and shared imagination.
