Actress Teresa Arcanjo selected as narrator of Opera Orfeo & Majnun

Teresa Arcanjo was the actress selected to narrate the opera Orfeo & Majnun, which will be staged in the large auditorium of Europarque, in Santa Maria da Feira, on 31 May, 2020, within the scope of Imaginarius – International Street Theatre Festival.

This opera format will be presented for the first time in Portugal, following presentations by the Orfeo & Majnun project partners, supported by the Creative Europe Programme: Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, European Capital of Culture Valletta 2018, Wiener Konzerthaus, Krakow Internacional Festival, Operadagen Rotterdam, La Monnaie / De Munt.

Orfeo & Majnun is an intercultural, interdisciplinary and inclusive project, inspired by the Greek myth of Orfeo and Eurydice and the Arab love story between Layla and Majnun. Based on the human values that unite the cultural diversity of these two narratives, the project promotes a set of participatory processes with citizens of different generations and cultural and social contexts.

As an itinerant co-creation by several European cities, Orfeo & Majnun celebrates the scope and diversity of communities and artists in each of them, using various languages to express themselves about the triad of emotions that punctuate the project: love, loss and desire.

In Santa Maria da Feira, Orfeo & Majnun will be part of the programme of the 20th edition of Imaginarius – International Street Theatre Festival in three categories: an Opera, two Parades and a set of Art Projects.

Imaginarius will return to the public space of the Historic Centre of Santa Maria da Feira from 28 to 31 May, under the theme “The Myth (s)”.
