Imaginarius – Santa Maria da Feira International Street Theatre Festival is preparing a special edition to celebrate the event’s 25th anniversary, and relies on the collaboration of dozens of volunteers. Applications are open until 31Marcht for the international and intergenerational volunteer programme Imaginarius Participa, open to those over 16 years of age, available to be part of a nationally and internationally renowned cultural and artistic project, taking place between 21 and 23 May in the city’s historic centre.
The responsibilities of an Imaginarius volunteer focus on five key areas: audience guidance; production support; volunteer coordination support; outreach and information; and support for the festival’s complementary services.
In the selection process, criteria such as availability, experience, and motivation to participate in this international and intergenerational project will be valued. Volunteers will benefit from free training, meals, and an Imaginarius Participa Kit, in addition to a travel and accommodation allowance, where applicable.
During the three days of the festival, Imaginarius volunteers will be responsible for carrying out specific tasks, previously assigned based on each volunteer’s profile and availability, namely: providing information about the programme and complementary services; distributing promotional material for the event; guiding and managing the audience; supporting the festival’s production companies and teams; and distributing support material to the volunteer team.
Participation in the Imaginarius festival is always an enriching experience that impacts the individual journey of each volunteer, especially through the opportunity to be part of a cultural and artistic project with 25 years of experience in the promotion of street arts in Portugal and abroad.
For most of those who have participated in previous editions, Imaginarius Participa provides unique experiences that inspire passion and leave a lasting impression, because it brings together people of various ages and from different geographical locations, allowing them to understand and be part of the festival’s grandeur, communicate in different languages with diverse audiences, and feel welcomed and integrated into the large Imaginarius family, where lasting friendships are built.
In addition to a morning of training, all those selected will also be able to participate in training on Security Management, Guidance and Public Relations, and Accessibility, fundamental areas for the smooth running of a festival for everyone, which in 2026 was once again distinguished as an “Accessible Festival” by Turismo de Portugal.
As in previous years, this event will recognize volunteers who have participated in five or ten editions of Imaginarius Participa.
