Call for Support for Imaginarius ’24 Local Creation endorsed by Inatel and Serralves

Imaginarius – International Street Theatre Festival continues, in 2024, to give a stage for local creations designed for the public space. It is through the Call for Support for Local Creation, in this edition also with the endorsement of the Inatel Foundation and the Serralves Foundation, that local associations and companies, as well as independent artists, born or residing in the municipality of Santa Maria da Feira, can present their projects. The application period runs until 7 September.

The Inatel Foundation and the Serralves Foundation join forces with the Municipality of Santa Maria da Feira to enhance and give visibility to local artistic projects in the disciplines of Street Arts, Contemporary Circus and Disciplinary Crossings. It is through the Call for Support for Local Creation that support is formalized. The Inatel Foundation’s endorsement is materialized in support for the creation and circulation of content. From the perspective of circulation, the Serralves Foundation also participates as a programming entity within the scope of Serralves em Festa.

The Call  is aimed at local associations and companies, as well as independent artists, born or residing in the municipality of Santa Maria da Feira, who are challenged to develop new artistic creations to integrate the programming of the 23rd edition of Imaginarius –  International Street Theatre Festival,  that will return to Feira between the 23 and 26 May.

The application period runs until 7 September and the proposals must be inspired by the aggregating theme of the next edition – “Freedom” –, and address the public space, in its most diverse perceptions, testing formats and models, while aiming at the construction of new artistic identities. It should also privilege the dialogue between contemporary artistic creation, circuses and street art, with the region’s cultural and natural heritage.

All applications will be evaluated by a jury made up of members of Imaginarius – International Street Theatre Festival team and by specialists and representatives of entities with a history and recognized artistic merit in the fields of artistic disciplines in the competition. Each of the two selected projects receives a support grant of 5,000 euros.

The two selected creations will also have access to a mentoring period, accompanied by a leading performing arts professional who will contribute to the improvement and consolidation of the project.

Rules for participation and application forms for the Call are available HERE. Any questions or clarifications should be directed to the Imaginarius team, via program@imaginarius.pt.
