Dorotea Solomun

Dorotea Solomun is a project manager from Varaždin (Croatia) specializing in creative cities, sustainable development and economic growth. As the Chairman of the Music Committee and Focal Point of UNESCO City of Music in Varaždin, she leads initiatives that position the city as a cultural hub within the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, using music as a platform for artistic excellence, community engagement and international cooperation.

She has extensive experience working in the Tourist Board of Varaždin, contributing to major cultural and tourism projects, including the organization of Špancirfest, Croatia’s largest street & music festival and the Festival of Open Courtyards, integrating cultural heritage with arts.

As the Head of the EU Projects Department in Varaždin, Dorotea leads initiatives in economic development, sustainable urban planning and international cooperation, fostering projects that connect cultural assets with economic growth. She frequently participates as a panelist at international conferences, sharing insights on tourism and cultural initiatives developed in Varaždin. Holding a GSTC Professional Certificate in Sustainable Tourism, she applies sustainable tourism criteria in the development and implementation of projects.

Her expertise extends to managing cross-border projects funded by the Creative Europe Programme and the European Urban Initiative, focusing on sustainable development and revitalization. She has extensive experience in artist selection for festivals and cultural projects. Additionally, she is actively involved in evaluating applications for the UNESCO Creative Cities Network and has co-led cultural projects that foster international exchange and sustainable cultural practices.
