Santa Maria da Feira turns into a giant stage to host the 2019 Imaginarius

Imaginarius – International Street Theatre Festival is coming to Santa Maria da Feira. Between 23 and 25 May, the city turns into a giant stage to welcome Portuguese and international artists and companies, but also emerging artists, local artists and associations, and social and creative intervention projects based in the municipality, in the most ambitious arts event of the country, which is already part of the route of the biggest street arts festivals in Europe.

Ambitious not only for the quality of the programme it annually presents, with world premières of original presentations in its programme, but also for investing on own creations, Imaginarius Creations, which distinguishes this festival from so many others. The size and projection that it has already reached is proven by the number of spectators it attracts, and, essentially, by the number of artists and artistic companies involved: 247 artists, from 12 countries (Australia, Belgium, Slovakia, Spain, France, Netherlands, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, United Kingdom, Serbia and Turkey), representing 46 companies or artistic projects, ensuring 229 hours of programming content.

Theatre, Circus, Dance, Music and Virtual Reality are the main artistic aspects that crisscross the entire programme of the Festival, which is divided into four main categories: Main Programme, Imaginarius Infantil, Imaginarius Creations, Mais Imaginarius. They all have in common main theme of this edition: memory. Written, narrated and visual memories will be exalted, and viewers challenged to travel through their own memories, bringing them to the stage, in a relationship of closeness to the artistic narratives presented.

Entrance to the 19th International Street Theatre Festival – Imaginarius is free; it has programming for all age groups; it is meant to be experienced by all; it is “Accessible Imaginarius”. The complete programme is available at www.imaginarius.pt
