26 Initiatives Across Five Months of Programming at the Imaginarius Creation Centre

The Imaginarius Creation Centre (ICC) continues to invest in year-round programming, with a packed schedule already confirmed for the next five months. A total of 26 initiatives are planned, including artistic residencies, workshops, training sessions, open rehearsals, talks, and performances—aimed at both the general public and professionals in the arts sector.

For the second consecutive year, the ICC opens its doors to a wide audience with a diverse artistic offering and programming that extends to various cultural spaces throughout the region. From February to June, the creation centre in Santa Maria da Feira will host 12 artistic residencies, four workshops, three talks, two training sessions, five open rehearsals, and seven performances.

From February 17 to 27, the Italian company Stalker Teatro will carry out an artistic residency at the Museu de Lamas, as part of the Green Streets of Europe project, which explores more sustainable models for festival touring and programming. At the same venue, from February 19 to 21 and February 24 to 26, the company will also lead workshops aimed at discovering a community where there is space for joy and happiness.

The initiative includes the participation of students from Escola Básica e Secundária Coelho e Castro, in Fiães, and from Escola Profissional de Paços de Brandão.

The Austrian company Potpourri, also part of the Green Streets of Europe project, will be in residence at the Imaginarius Creation Centre from 22 February to 3 March. Their project focuses on the concept of “roots” as the central theme, starting from the idea of bringing light into darkness—and, by extension, shedding light on invisible works and people.

Also from Stalker Teatro, an open rehearsal is scheduled for 26 February at 9:30 PM at the Museu de Lamas. This rehearsal is the result of the workshops and artistic residency, where the group explores approaches to sustainability—seeking to build a society using reused and donated materials.

Potpourri returns to the programme spotlight on 28 February, from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM, at the ICC, with the workshop “Sharing of Movement Research”.

Lumo Company, winner of the international temperarART open call, returns to Santa Maria da Feira from 4 to 14 March for an artistic residency. The resulting project will be part of the programme for Imaginarius – International Street Theatre Festival.

Following its 2024 success, the Imaginarius Creation Centre (ICC) will once again offer the training session “Impactful Pitches” on 8 March, from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM and 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. This session aims to empower artists, associations, and cultural agents to effectively communicate their projects to professionals. The guest speaker is Norberto Amaral, a renowned communicator, organiser, and host of TEDxPorto.

From 17 to 21 March, LaB InDança, a resident project at the Imaginarius Creation Centre, resumes its weekly dance classes. This year’s programme includes three artistic residencies under the direction of Gabriela Martin Léon, specifically designed for people with disabilities.

The rest of the ICC programme includes residencies, open rehearsals, workshops, and talks. All these initiatives will culminate in performances presented as part of Imaginarius – International Street Theatre Festival.

The semester’s programme concludes with two artistic residencies:
– 2 to 6 June: a residency by LaB InDança
– 9 to 20 June: the first residency from the “Night of Circus” open call
