To sustain means choosing to stay when it would be easier to step away. To remain within the group and yet feel on its margins, less creative, less capable, less worthy of belonging. What does it mean to be the displaced element within one’s own community, to long to belong while feeling out of alignment? The action settles in this threshold between inclusion and distance, where holding and being held cease to be neutral gestures and instead involve risk, exposure and shared responsibility.

Between physical theatre, aerial acrobatics and Cyr wheel, proximity reveals both individual and collective tensions. Contact exposes fragilities, support may falter, and each decision carries the possibility of exclusion or care. What is shared is not only strength, but the experience of confronting doubt, the fear of not being enough and the silent fracture of someone searching for their place.

In this unstable territory, community does not emerge as an abstract promise, but as a demanding practice. Imperfection becomes visible and operative. SYLI constructs a time of confrontation and care, where moving through the feeling of being out of place and choosing to remain transforms shared space into a site of support, exposure and collective choice.
