Necessary material: participants are to bring printed images. These can be clippings from magazines, photographs taken by themselves, images from other photographers they admire, etc. The images are meant to be manipulated, so they must bring photographs that can be “spoiled”.
The plastic photography workshop will be a place for personal exploration and exchange of ideas. In it, we will manipulate and adulterate images by hand, painting them, tearing them, sewing them, creating collages… Everything is valid. The final result will be a plastic artistic object, created from your photographs, your personal archive, or works by authors you admire, making use of cultural appropriation. It is intended, therefore, to enhance the image, lending it a new look and a new interpretation.
Starting from such authors as Helena Almeida, participants will be encouraged to look at their works and reflect on the impact that hand manipulation can have on a photograph, taking them as inspiration for the artistic object they will create during the workshop.
