The show “Poetic Roads: Beyond Borders” will be have its word premiere at the festival, which will be returning to the public space of the stage city from the 23 to 26 of May, under the sign of Freedom.
In its 23rd edition, the Imaginarius festival presents a dynamic and fun musical tour through the city’s streets, led by the Italian collective Rusty Brass Band, which explores and enhances public space through music, surprising in unusual contexts.
Their creation “Poetic Roads: Beyond Borders” opens space for the participation of young musicians from the municipality, up to the age of 21, belonging to philharmonic bands, musical tunas, Youth Orchestra and Symphonic Band or artistic education schools, who are capable of playing from memory and willing to comply with the workshop and rehearsal schedule.
The show will be developed at a residency in Santa Maria da Feira during the second half of May, involving the participation of local musicians who can play the trumpet, French horn, trombone, tuba and percussion. In addition to section rehearsals, there will be collective and outdoor rehearsals, a general rehearsal and several presentations throughout the festival.
The debut performance will travel through the streets and squares of the historic centre of Santa Maria da Feira, involving the public in a unique and energetic guided musical tour, on 23, 24 and 25 May.
Remember that, in the last edition of the festival, Italy’s Rusty Brass Band surprised the public with their interaction, energy and irreverence. The Mais Imaginarius international jury was also impressed by the artistic quality of the musicians and their performance, and chose them as winners of the international competition for emerging artists.
Thanks to their participation in Mais Imaginarius, the Rusty Brass Band collective was awarded with a “passport” giving them direct access to an artistic residency in Santa Maria da Feira to create a new show to be premiered in the main programme, which includes a grant to support the artistic creation, worth five thousand euros, and a grant of 700 euros to support travel expenses.
In addition to “Poetic Roads: Beyond Borders”, the festival’s programme features two more Imaginarius creations – “Tenho o teu nariz”, by Fábio Araújo, and “Pudesse eu não ter laços nem limites”, by Joana Gomes – both by artists from Feira, selected as part of the Call for Support for Local Creation.
