It is Urban Art, it will be the first visible project of the 20th edition of Imaginarus – International Festival of Street Theatre in Santa Maria da Feira and was inaugurated this Saturday, 1 May, at 3:30 pm, on the nascent facade of the School house of the Feira Fire Department. “Auxílio no Perigo” is a mural by Godmess, the artistic name of Tiago Gomes, which marks the 100th anniversary of the institution.
The unveiling of the “Auxílio no Perigo” mural is part of the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of the Feira Fire Department, which took place throughout the afternoon of 1 May, and will be attended by the artist, Godmess, and Lara Seixo Rodrigues, a reference name in urban art and CEO of Mistaker Maker – Plataforma de Intervenção Artística.
This work is the result of the “Urban Art” Public Call that the City Council launched in the scope of the 20th edition of Imaginarius, in partnership with the Feira Fire Department, to create an artistic intervention in the public space addressing the identity and memory of the institution, but also its connection to the region, through culture, community and its history. Godmess was the artist selected by the jury, made up of different elements, curator and producer of Urban Art events, Lara Seixo Rodrigues among them.
The image that gives colour and new life to the nascent facade of the School House of the Fire Department connects the work and the involvement of the institution with the region, by including and depicting centenary heraldic elements, in a contemporary and distinctive language that intends to exalt the firefighters’ collective memory. Godmess tells, in his artistic intervention, a complex, centenary history, in simple but expressive lines.
The making of documentary on this Urban Art work is part of Imaginarius’ May programme and is scheduled for the 29th, at 6:00pm, on the Imaginarius interactive map, its online stage.
It should be noted that the 20th edition of Imaginarius – International Street Theatre Festival will take place this year, in two distinct moments: from 27 to 30 May, on the virtual stage, albeit with some face-to-face shows, and from 9 to 12 September, in its usual stage, the region of Santa Maria da Feira.
