The joint Call launched by the Municipalities of Santa Maria da Feira, Portugal, and Joué-Les-Tours, France, and by the Imaginarius Creation Centre and 37ème Parallèle, as part of the celebrations of the 30th anniversary of the twinning between these two cities, already has a winner. Telmo Ferreira is the local artist selected from among the 10 applications that were submitted.
In this context, Telmo Ferreira will start his residency to write the project with the French artistic director, from 19 to 23 November, in Joué-Lès-Tours, and in Santa Maria da Feira, from 26 to 30 November. This residency will result in an artistic creation in public space, with Portuguese and French artists, under the theme “Myth”, to be premiered at the 20th Imaginarius – International Street Theatre Festival, 28-31 May, 2020, and the 23rd Les Années Joué – Street Arts Festival, 5-7 June, 2020.
In this specific initiative, in addition to the two Portuguese and French municipalities, which will ensure the financial support of the project, the two creative centres are also involved: Imaginarius Creative Centre, in Santa Maria da Feira, and the 37ème Parallèle, in Tours and Metray, thus fostering cooperation between the cultural, operational, technical and institutional agents of both regions.
This new cultural project comes as part of the twinning between the municipalities of Santa Maria da Feira and Joué-Lés-Tours, which is now 30 years old. 30 years of a fruitful sharing of experiences, projects and knowledge that will remain active and dynamic in various areas of intervention, from education and training to youth, from sports to culture, from social action to economic activities.
